ABOUT DCCFF

the DCCFF team, spring 2016, Washington DC
The DC Chinese Film Festival (DCCFF) is an independent film festival dedicated to discovering outstanding Chinese cinema around the world and encouraging cultural diversity through films.
Founded in 2011, DCCFF brings together artists, film professionals, indie film lovers, and scholars to Washington DC, for rare screenings, cutting-edge panel discussions, and networking events.
In September 2018, with the theme of Folding World, which focuses on the stories of underrepresented communities and Chinese diasporas around the world, the 4th DC Chinese Film Festival returned to DC. Of the 562 submissions from all over the world, 37 features and shorts from 9 countries and regions were nominated.
As the Director of Visual Design, I initiated and went through the entire graphic design sector, including program logo, festival posters, program books, online and outdoor display ads, and other digital communications design assets.
2018 KEY VISUAL
The Chinese character I was using in the key visual has several meanings:
肆 is the number "4" in traditional Chinese writing. 2018 is DCCFF's fourth competition year.
肆 as an adjective is used to describe a character of wildness, unbridled passion and enthusiasm.
To meet the theme of Folding World, I changed the character into a building-block-style design, showcasing a world of puzzle, which is inspired by the award-winning game The Monument Valley.
